Goodenough College is a residential institution (hall of residence) for international postgraduate students. As we are not a teaching organisation, all our student Members (aged 21 years upwards) study for their PhDs and master’s at universities in and around central London, such as UCL and Kings College London. You will therefore find our buildings surprisingly quiet.
We do not have an onsite carpark, however loading and unloading is possible from our south arch gate – please pre-arrange this with your event manager. All vehicles must be relocated once load-in has been completed.
The local roads are managed by Camden Council. Please check the Camden Council website for up-to-date information on parking restrictions. At the time of writing, Camden Council permits Blue Badge holders to park free of charge on Mecklenburgh Square.
You will find directions to our venue on our ‘Our location’ page that you are welcome to send to your attendees.
The Hotel is located on the west side of Mecklenburgh Square only a couple of minutes walk from both London House (south side) and William Goodenough House (north side).
London House is on the south side of Mecklenburgh Square and William Goodenough House on the north side (separated by Mecklenburgh Square Garden). Walking between the two buildings takes a maximum of five minutes.
Yes, we have complimentary wi-fi available throughout our venue. A hard-line is also available in our larger spaces.
Our event spaces within London House are wheelchair accessible, via the use of a wheelchair lift, with the exception of our seminar rooms on the lower ground floor. An accessible toilet is available in the London House reception.
Our events spaces within William Goodenough House are accessible via a ramp. The accessible toilet is in the same location as our other toilet facilities (with a wheelchair lift to navigate the three steps up). The main reception area, the event spaces and the toilets are closely located, making the venue exceptionally easy to navigate.
We will provide a welcome desk outside of your chosen event space to facilitate your own registration process. If you have a list of attendees it may be helpful for us to share this with our reception team but it is not a requirement.
A 9am tenancy gives you access from 8.30am for set-up. Early access from 7.30am can be added for an additional fee. As a residential building, access prior to 7.30am is not permitted.
In London House we are licensed until 11pm. We are able to offer a limited number of license extensions until midnight each year, subject to Council approval. All outdoor activity must conclude by 10pm.
We offer hire of our Wiliam Goodenough House spaces until 7pm Monday – Friday. The spaces are reserved for our student Members’ activities at the weekend and after 8pm on weekdays.
Due to limited storage space deliveries can only be received one day in advance of your event and must be picked up by the following day. Please liaise with your event manager in advance of any delivery to ensure there are no storage or receivership issues with the materials you are sending across.
Please ensure all deliveries are clearly labelled with the room name, event name and date of your event. If sending multiple boxes/packages please number them. The operations team will ensure any agreed deliveries are taken to your event room on the day of your event.
Please ensure collections are packaged, labelled and left with our reception team for pick-up post event. Please do not leave any materials for collection in your event space and don’t forget to remove any old labels. Your packages should be signed in with the Reception Supervisor and you will need to provide details of the courier company and estimated pick-up time.
If your event has an exhibition or installation of a significant size or weight your delivery may need to be taken directly by the supplier to your event space. In instances such as this extended tenancy of your event space may be required and additional charges may apply. If this applies to your event please discuss your requirements with your event manager as soon as possible.
Our in-house caterers have exclusivity to cater at our venue. Under rare circumstances, for a buy-out fee, our caterers will grant permission for an external caterer to be used (subject to venue approval on the provision of standard H&S documentation). The caterer would need to be able to work from a satellite kitchen as we are unable to give access to our caterer’s kitchen.
Yes, we charge a corkage fee for clients who wish to bring in their own wine or champagne. Costs can be found on our catering page. The alcohol would be chilled and served by our onsite caterer in-line with the responsible service of alcohol.
Our operations team are fully trained on our in-house AV. They will be available to assist you with your AV set-up and be onsite to assist with any troubleshooting at no additional charge. If you would prefer, or require, the added reassurance of an in-room technician this is possible for an additional fee. See our AV page for further details.
