At BaxterStorey, we have a wide range of initiatives to enhance our sustainability practices by reducing waste, sourcing responsibly, and implementing strategies across all operations.
- In 2022, we collected 215,333 litres of used cooking oil from our locations which is converted into biodiesel to fuel around 3,500 tractors!
(Data collected between 1st January and 21st December 2022).
- Our Bacon is Red Tractor Assured – it’s traceable, safe and farmed with care.
- We have changed our disposable cups, which are 33% less weight than before saving 90 tonnes of paper – The equivalent of planting 55,000 trees.
- A complete move to wooden cutlery, removed 24 million pieces of single use plastic cutlery – equivalent to planting 15,574 trees.
- Our monitoring programme has resulted in 40% reduction in food waste, that’s the CO2E equivalent of removing 7,700 cars off the road for a year!
- Over 7% of fruit and veg grown in the UK never make it to the plate. That’s more than £1 billion worth of perfect produce going to waste. We’ve partnered with Waste Knot who rescue this surplus veg from farmer’s fields straight into our kitchens.
- Our coffee partner Extract – your Society Coffee Blend! Believes in building long-term sustainable relationships with growers based a quality pay ethos, meaning they are paying premiums higher than fairtrade.
- Crackin’ Good Choice! RSPCA assured free-range eggs prioritise hen’s well-being. These hens roam all day, and sleep in warm, comfortable barns.
- In 2023 we were recognised as the first-ever business & industry sector caterer to achieve ‘World Class’ status by Hospitality Assured with sustainability playing a key role in the assessment process.
